Terms and Conditions

We have put together these Terms and Conditions to ensure you understand and agree to what is involved, once you have become a member of the Samaritans Panels. By signing up to the Samaritans Insights Panel and/or the Samaritans Lived Experience Panel, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

  • Thank you for your interest in being a member of this panel. If you decide you want to become a member of the panels, you ("You") will be accepting the following terms and conditions.
  • You must be over 18 years of age to join and participate in the Samaritans Insights Panel or Samaritans Lived Experience Panel.
  • Samaritans owns the surveys, polls, forums and the website Samaritans Panels and use a third party provider to host/develop the surveys and the Samaritans Panels website on its behalf (the “Promoter")
  • You will need to have internet access to take part in any Samaritans activities, and your ability to complete them may be affected by the performance of your internet connection

Accuracy of information:
Samaritans and the Promoter reserve the right to invalidate any surveys or panel activities that are illegible, unfinished or unsuitable.

Rewards:
All rewards offered for completing surveys are clearly stated in the survey invitation email. If a survey reward is a prize draw entry, a link to the prize draw rules will be included in the survey or survey invite.

Other:
Samaritans and the Promoter provide no warranty that the website on which these panels are hosted will operate uninterrupted or error/virus free.

If any provision of these terms and conditions is held invalid by any law, rule, order or regulation of any government or by the final determination of any court of a competent jurisdiction, such invalidity shall not affect the enforceability of any other provisions not held to be valid.

Samaritans reserves the right to change, add or remove parts of these terms and conditions at any time. If any material changes are made, Samaritans will notify you either here or by email.

These terms and conditions are governed by English Law and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

Membership Conditions

Samaritans Membership
To become a member of the Samaritans Panels you must complete and submit the registration survey by clicking on "Sign up".
By registering to join the Samaritans Panels you confirm that you have read and accept the following Terms and Conditions. The Samaritans Panels is free to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time, and the most up to date version can be viewed at any time on the site.

Confidentiality
Samaritans Panels is run by QuMind, an independent insights and software consultancy, at its HQ in London. You can find out more about QuMind here. The technology is fuelled by QuMind’s software. QuMind ensures that the personal details you provide on the registration survey (such as your first name, last name and email address) are held in a secure database that cannot be accessed by anyone not directly involved in managing the Samaritans Panels.

Any information you provide, either in the registration survey or in subsequent surveys, is confidential and will not be sent on to any third parties, except in rare cases where you have given your consent to the contrary or where necessary for the analysis of results at an aggregate level.
You will not be sold or marketed to in any way by QuMind or any other party as a result of information you provide during the time you participate on the Samaritans Panels except in cases where you give specific consent to the contrary.

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law.
These Terms & Conditions refer to the following additional terms, which also apply to your use of our site:
Our Privacy Policy, which sets out the terms on which we process any personal data we collect from you, or that you provide to us. By using the Samaritans Panels community, you consent to such processing and you warrant that all data provided by you is accurate; and our Cookie Policy, which sets out information about the cookies on the Samaritans Panels community.

Contact from Samaritans
You will receive regular surveys and polls as a member of the Samaritans Panels, however you will never be contacted more than 5 times a month. Your participation on all surveys and polls is voluntary and as such you may end your participation at any time. There will be no more than 2 surveys per month per panel, and not everyone may join both panels. Please see our FAQs for more details about which of the panels you are eligible to join.

You can unsubscribe from the Samaritans Panels at any time by visiting our FAQs and following the instructions.

As a member of the Samaritans, you may request help from QuMind with technical or research related queries. QuMind will only address such queries where a member has specifically requested help. QuMind will not ask third parties to reply to you on their behalf.

Conduct of Members
Registered members must agree to take sole responsibility for their conduct when using the Samaritans Panels website and we will not tolerate:

  • The communication of material that is sexually explicit, immoral, dishonest, or of an illegal nature.
  • The transmission in any form of a programme or file which is capable of interrupting, destroying, or limiting the capabilities of the website, server, connected networks or other users' computers.
  • The transmission of content for commercial reasons, including any advertising or promotional materials.
  • Attempts to register more than one account per person.
Membership of Our Site
1.1. To be a member of Our Site you must be aged 18 or over.
1.2. Membership of Our Site is personal to you and is not transferable to any third party.
1.3. Only one membership per person. You may not join Our Site more than once.
1.4. To be a member of our site you must not be banned or service withdrawn from Samaritans services. We may conduct checks and terminate your membership to our site if we discover that you have been banned from Samaritans services for any reason.
1.5. As a member of Our Site you will receive invitations via email to participate in online research activities.
1.6. Your participation in all research is voluntary. If you choose to stop receiving emails your membership of Our Site will terminate.
1.7. You may choose to end your membership at any time. You can terminate your membership by visiting this website and clicking ‘unsubscribe’ or by using the link found in the footer of our emails.
1.8. Membership entitles you to take part in various online research activities. In some cases members may have to meet certain criteria to be eligible to be invited and/or participate in an activity. In these instances we will review the information held about you, or ask you to complete a recruitment screener to assess your eligibility to take part. If you do not meet the criteria, you will not be able to take part on that occasion – this does not affect your chances of being invited into future research activities.
1.9. Our Site operates for the purpose of legitimate market research and all activities are administered in accordance with the Market Research Society (MRS) Code of Conduct. Your membership and the data your share on Our Site will not be used to sell or market products to you.

2. Your Use of Our Site
2.1. You may not store the content of Our Site on a server (or any other device connected to a network), copy, reproduce, republish, download, post, broadcast, transmit, make available to the public or otherwise use the content of Our Site in any way except for your own personal non-commercial, lawful and moral use.
2.2. All information contained in any documentation, or revealed in discussions as part of Our Site constitutes confidential information and must not be disclosed by you externally outside of Our Site or with anyone other than other members of Our Site.
2.3. All designs, graphics, photographic images, material (including any copies or arrangements, and all software, underlying source code and all other material on Our Site is protected by copyright.
2.4. You must only use Our Site for lawful purposes and in way that does not infringe the rights of, restrict or inhibit anyone else’s use and enjoyment of Our Site. This includes but is not limited to:
2.4.1. content that is defamatory or discloses information to which you have no legal right to disclose;
2.4.2. content that is (or contains anything which is) vulgar, hateful, obscene, profane, threatening or insulting;
2.4.3. content that intends to impersonate another person or entity;
2.4.4. content that contains any links to intentionally false or misleading statements, or seeks to unfairly manipulate others or is an attempt to collect or store data about other members.
2.4.5. content that is protected by any form of intellectual property whether registered or unregistered or any contractual, statutory and equitable obligations of confidence.
2.5. We have the right to remove any content, posts or material from Our Site, which in our opinion, breaches the standards described in these terms and conditions.
2.6. You must not misuse Our Site by knowingly introducing viruses, Trojans, worms, logic bombs or other material which is malicious or technologically harmful. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to Our Site, the server on which Our Site is stored or any server, computer or database connected to the website. You must not attack Our Site via a denial-of-service attack or a distributed denial-of-service attack. Doing so is a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and we will co-operate with relevant law enforcement agencies by disclosing your identity to them.

3. Protecting Your Privacy
3.1. We take the privacy of our members seriously. We process information about you in accordance with Data Protection legislation as described in our Privacy Policy. We strongly advise that you read our privacy policy.
3.2. As a member of Our Site you must treat your personal information as confidential at all times. Do not disclose it to any third party.
3.3. You also have a personal responsibility to protect your privacy. We strongly advise that:
3.3.1. You pick a username that does not give away any of your personal information or contact details, or can be attributed to you personally (such as full name, email address or phone number).
3.3.4. We have the right to change or disable any screenname, if in our opinion it fails to comply with these Terms of Use.

4. Access to Our Site
4.1. We do not guarantee that Our Site, or any content on it, will always be available or be uninterrupted. Access to the Website is permitted on a temporary basis. We may suspend, withdraw, discontinue or change all or any part of the Website without notice. We will not be liable to you if for any reason the Website is unavailable at any time or for any period.
4.2. We may update Our Site from time to time, and may change the content at any time. However, please note that any of the content on Our Site may be out of date at any given time, and we are under no obligation to update it.
4.3. We do not guarantee that Our Site, or any content on it, will be free from errors or omissions.
4.4. You are responsible for making all arrangements necessary for you to have access to Our Site.
